Petr Aven Chairman
Petr is a prominent businessman and former politician. He graduated from the Moscow State University (1977) and holds a PhD in Econometrics (1980). Petr then became a senior researcher at the All-Union Institute for Systems Studies at the USSR Academy of Sciences and later spent two years at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Laxenburg, Austria (1989–1991).
Petr went on to become the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations for the Russian Federation (1991–1992). He served as Russia’s representative to the Group of Seven and conducted a number of high-level trade and economic missions to Western capitals.
From 1994 until June 2011 he served as President of Alfa-Bank (Russia).

Currently, Petr is the Chairman of ABHH and Alfa-Bank (Russia), and a board member of Alfa-Bank (Ukraine), LetterOne Holdings, and LetterOne Investment Holdings. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at AlfaStrakhovanie Group.
Petr holds a number of public positions, including: member of the Endowment Foundation Board of Trustees of New Economic School, trustee of the National Association for National Financial Reporting Standards, professor at the State University Higher School of Economics, member of the Board of Directors of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Chairman of the Russia-Latvian Business Council, and a member of the Yale University President’s Council on International Activities.
